The long-vacant spot at the southeast corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Robertson once known as Java Detour will become P.U.M.P. ounge, a nightclub, reports Eater LA.
The new plan is brainchild of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Lisa Vanderpump and her husband (and hospitality business partner) Ken Todd of SUR and Villa Blanca fame. The former restaurant is only a stone’s throw down the street from the new club.
Ms. Vanderpump and Mr. Todd have been married for 30 years and have opened numerous clubs in London before moving to SoCal eight years ago.
The reality TV personality is competing on Dancing with the Stars and not only is a centerpiece on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which just aired its last episode, as well as a spin-off series called Vanderpump Rules, in which she’s portrayed as a motherly figure to her young employees at SUR.
No word yet on liquor licenses, parking applications, building permits or construction deadlines, but if the experience is anything like the previous hoped-for restaurant/club on that location, Varsity, it should be slow if it ever comes to fruition.
Varsity announced they would open in 2010, began construction in 2011 and then lay quiescent until this news.
