Expect disruptions as LA Marathon runs through WeHo

West Hollywood Welcomes Runners in the Honda L.A. Marathon on Sunday, March 17, 2013


The LA Marathon makes its way along the Sunset Steip again this year as it wends its way to the sea.

WEST HOLLYWOOD - The City of West Hollywood will again welcome runners competing in the Honda Los Angeles Marathon “Stadium to the Sea” course on Sunday, March 17, 2013.

The marathon will begin at Dodger Stadium and will finish at Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica, and in between will tour an impressive collection of historical points throughout the City of Los Angeles as well as surrounding cities, including West Hollywood.

An estimated 25,000 runners will experience iconic landmarks in the City of West Hollywood between miles 13 and 15 of the 26.2-mile course.

The Honda Los Angeles Marathon “Stadium to the Sea” route enters West Hollywood at Sunset Boulevard and Havenhurst Drive on the city’s eastside and heads west on Sunset Boulevard passing by several landmarks including the Sunset Tower and legendary music venues the Whisky a Go Go and the Viper Room.

Runners will then turn left onto San Vicente Boulevard and right onto Santa Monica Boulevard, past the Troubadour, before exiting West Hollywood at Doheny Drive, where they will enter Beverly Hills.

To accommodate the 2013 Honda Los Angeles Marathon, the following West Hollywood streets will be closed on Sunday, March 17, between the hours of 4 a.m. and 2 p.m.:

  • Sunset Boulevard between North Havenhurst Drive and Clark Street/North San Vicente Boulevard
  • North San Vicente Boulevard between Sunset Boulevard and Melrose Avenue
  • Santa Monica Boulevard between La Cienega Avenue and North Doheny Drive
  • North Doheny Drive between Santa Monica Boulevard and Beverly Boulevard

 

Parking will not be allowed along the race course. “No Parking” signs will be posted before the event. Vehicles in violation will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. Public parking in West Hollywood will be available at the following locations for a fee:
