While everyone in New Orleans is wearing purple, green, and gold, and adorned with long beads caught from the beautiful floats, throwing balls, playing music, having a picnic, and watching the crowds walk by between parades, the French Quarter restaurant, a West Hollywood icon, is the perfect place to celebrate the season locally, with Cajun offerings such as our tasty Shrimp Po' Boy, comforting bowl of Jambalaya, decadent Crab Cakes Benedict or original Crab Cakes Wrap, each of which pair nicely with our special Mardi Gras cocktail, the "Hurricane", or many of our other cocktails or incredible beers.
The French Quarter Restaurant is nestled in the heart of West Hollywood, on Santa monica Boulevard at Laurel Avenue.
We are surrounded by shops and boutiques that make up the French Market Place, and, having new owners who are keeping up the tradition of this landmark restaurant, want to invote you to return to try our beer, wine and cocktail selection and modified menu.
Opened by the Simms Family on February 19, 1974, the restaurant has grown over the years and now serves upwards of 10,000 customers a week.
Much of the artwork throughout our restaurant was created by artist Leo Meiersdorff. Leo was born in Germany in 1934. He was a master student of Oskar Kokoschka in Austria and other late Bauhaus painters at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts. In order to finance his artistic studies, Leo began to perform jazz throughout Europe.
His love for jazz brought him to the United States in 1957, where he would eventually meet and paint such artists as Duke Ellington, Paul Desmond and Dizzy Gillespie.
In 1975, when the Simms family traveled to New Orleans, they discovered Leo's artwork and at that time began incorporating it into the restaurant.
When you walk through our doors our bright colors and open air feeling make you feel like you've traveled right to Bourbon Street.
This Fat Tuesday we’ll even be serving up a Mardi Gras party to emphasize our roots.
