It is with great interest that I have been following the campaign of Lindsey Horvath for a seat on the West Hollywood City Council.

In watching the campaigns of women there is one singular repeating theme which is the overall effectiveness of harassing candidates and the clear indication of the bias of the harassers under the guise of "reporting." Chasing women through a crowd, writing about their age or appearance, ignoring the substance of their record are all the general fare practiced by foes who, I believe, are only exposing their own agenda and prejudices.

I suppose there should be nothing new under the sun about biased press harassing female candidates but in this case, I find it particularly disturbing for two fundamental reasons

1) The record of Lindsey Horvath is consistently paving the road to equality.

2) The attackers and those they represent are seeking the very equality Ms. Horvath has championed while demonstrating their own inability to behave without prejudice.

I do not live in West Hollywood but I am a lifelong Democrat, a Southern Californian and live on the intersection of feminism and LGBTQAI rights. Frankly, I expected more from an election in WeHo than the same ole, same ole attacks on women. We always see those in communities that do not boast that they are communities founded on the principles of equality as WeHo does.

Make a note of who is harassing Ms. Horvath. Figure out who is chasing her, threatening her, writing vicious attacks on her as they have revealed their character. I would propose that it is their character which you do not want making civic decisions that will define your community.

What is Lindsey Horvath trying to hide? If she is lying it is bound to come out and be an embarrassment sooner or later. Her behavior lately has been very telling, that she is too immature and naive to handle the position she was given on our city council.

What's with running away from the media, fleeing through bushes and dodging through crowds of people gathered to enjoy a city celebration? What is her problem? Some have written that her host of "endorsements" are also a fraud - I don't know, but most of them seem to be to be very "iffy."

The last straw was having the sheriff present at an "endorsement" meeting to "protect" Lindsey from a reporter! Someone should tell her that her name is Lindsey Horvath and not Lindsey Lohan. Helicopters overhead next?

I will be glad when this local political circus created by Lindsey's appointment is over, when she has been replaced by a qualified people's representative and we can get on with doing the city's business, which I think will include making more replacements in the next election.

Enough of this shameless, embarrassing power mongering that we have been enduring for so long.

As a longtime resident of West Hollywood, 23 years, it is time that West Hollywood re-evaluate its lack of term limits. I have always found it odd that West Hollywood does not have term limits, it seems every governing body in California does.

Term limits protect the office holder and the public. Although all candidates, presently serving, have given their best, I do believe change has been long overdue. I am not suggesting that individual council members have received benefits.

However, I have always found it odd and questionable, that: a position that requires more than 40 full time hours per week, a position that manages multi-million dollar contracts, a position where all office holders have full time professional positions , a position that pays less than $10,000 per year, a position that cost 20 times what the position pays to run a campaign, a position where council members have not burned out after 20 years of service does not have some type undisclosed, well hidden benefit not known to the public.

Once again, thank you to those that have served; however, change is long overdue and will come in time.

The article is informative and good, but hasn't mentioned a very important point:

As argued by different sources the tax income from the billboards will not materialize

Quoting from JEFFREY PRANG, Councilmember, City of West Hollywood letter:

The "Billboard Tax" in Measure A is illegal under California Law. Even the measure's author knows that the tax will never be implemented. But what will be put into practice are changes to the rules that will allow huge unregulated supergraphic tall walls along Santa Monica and Beverly Boulevards.

Measure A takes away the City's ability to regulate supergraphic tall walls before they get final permits. This means that no one is checking to see if they are safe, built correctly or not lit so brightly that they will endanger drivers and glare into your homes and businesses.

Measure A will not result in a single penny going to support AIDS care, senior assistance or social services. The tax is unconstitutional and will never be implemented and Measure A proponents know this.

Good morning! I have recently become a reader of your publication as I am following the election very closely for the first time in many years.

I have noticed you are endorsing for the first time this election. I have also noticed and agree with you on your statement of...

"In this election please vote against the incumbents. A vote for any one incumbent is a vote for them all."

Yet on your endorsement list is Scott Schmidt, who has this week publicly defended Lindsey Horvath and how she was APPOINTED!

I attended the forum and heard it with my own ears.

It was rather shocking!

And to quote Mr. Schmidt's web site.... "I believe that John D'Amico, Lindsey Horvath and I offer that the voters what they're looking for..."

Excuse me!?

So, I ask you....how you can make a statement about "a vote for any is a vote for them all", and then turn around and endorse someone who is in favor of Lindsey Horvath? It sounds like Schmidt is going to VOTE for Lindsey.

Sounds like you didn't do your homework, before you made such an endorsement.
