Both men were transported to a nearby hospital and survived their wounds.

LAPD seeks two suspects in the shootings.

According to LAPD Senior Lead Officer Art Gallegos, "At this time it is unknown if it is gang related, and the suspects were described as two male Hispanics, no further description."

An altercation developed between some of the 50-odd patrons of the show, called "Graffiti Art Gallery Show” and held at Conart, 431 N Fairfax Ave., after which LAPD Wilshire Division received two calls of "shots fired."

Responding to one of those calls from the other side of that city block at 400 block of N. Orange Grove Ave., officers discovered victim lying on the ground, shot in the chest.

Several blocks to the west, near Melrose and Edinburgh Avenues, from where the other call emanated, officers found another victim wounded in the arm by gunfire.

According to LAPD Det. Dan Talbot, the victims ran out of the shop after being shot. The rest of the crowd, too, scattered, leaving few witnesses behind to offer detectives eye witness evidence.

The shop specializes in artwork, clothing and accessories designed by graffiti artists, as well as selling paint and art supplies. It opened earlier that week.

Detectives described the suspect as a Hispanic man, roughly 5’ 5” to 5’ 8” tall, 140 - 160 pounds, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and prescription glasses.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Wilshire Division’s Gang Impact Team at (323)473-0444.

During weekends and off-hours, call the LAPD’s 24-hour, toll-free hotline at (877)LAPD24-7.
