Their West Hollywood apartment smelled of gas, according to the report, something a maintenance worker called in to the station, said the watch commander.
Upon arrival and entry into the home, sheriffs initially reported finding a man and a woman, changing their report by Friday night to two women.
The West Hollywood Station branch first arrived on the scene at 10:30 am.
Details have been slow to emerge; detectives decline to call the deaths a “murder-suicide.”
Detectives declined to say whether the women were WeHo residents, what their relationship to one another was, or how long the women had been dead before discovery.
Homicide detectives have not yet released the women's names pending notification of next of kin.
Officials asked anyone with information about the deaths to call Sgt. Rodriguez at the sheriff's homicide department at (323) 890-5500.
