WeHo’s Don’t Drink & Drive Campaign

West Hollywood, California (November 27, 2009) - Several people have asked me to update them regarding the December, Don’t Drink & Drive Campaign. So, please mark you calendars accordingly:

2nd Annual Drunken Driving Crashed Car unveiling scheduled for December 3, located on the southeast corner of the San Vicente Blvd. & Santa Monica Blvd. This Crashed Car is to remind people of the consequences of a drunken driving accident.

The car displayed will be an actual car that was involved in a drunken driving accident. This crashed car will remain on display throughout the entire month of December to include New Years Day.

A simple message of Don’t Drink & Drive will surround the crash vehicle along with statistics about drunken driving accidents.

Annual - Don’t Drink & Drive Napkin Distribution – Dec. 17 – 7:00 p.m. The Don’t Drink & Drive Napkins Distribution, one of the signature programs initiated by our late Mayor and Councilmember Sal Guarriello, will take place on Thursday, December 17.

A kick-off Call to Action will take place at the House of Blues, immediately following which Sheriff Personal, City Council Members, Public Safety Commissioners and staff, Sunset Strip Business Association Security Ambassadors and volunteers will distribute over 200,000 “Don’t Drink & Drive” cocktail napkins to bars, clubs and restaurants along Sunset Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd.

The napkins will have a printed message on them reminding patrons to take a taxi or use a designated driver.

Additionally, the nightclubs and restaurants will distribute small Pledge Cards containing important telephone numbers such as taxi cab & Sheriff Dept. telephone numbers and information about the AAA Auto Club program offering free Tipsy Tow rides home between New Years Eve, December 31, and New Years morning, January 1 to party goers throughout the holiday season.

Similar Pledge Cards will also continue to be distributed throughout the year by our Sheriff Deputies and our Sunset Strip Business Association Security Ambassadors.
