Therefore, legendary Oscar-winning screen star Bette Davis’ home going up for sale (twenty years after her passing) stands as big news in this town.
The current owner, Gordon Thompson III, a design consultant, has placed the fourth floor condo in one of the city’s finest examples of architect Leland A. Bryant’s work, the Colonial House, on the market for $2.45 million.
The space is 2,242-square-feet with 12-foot ceilings that Ms. Davis is said to have decreed "dauntingly high," three-bedrooms, 2 1/2 –bathrooms.
Views include city, mountain and treetop vistas and amenities include many original built-ins, hardwood floors and a terrace.
The apartment has been recently refurbished and brought up to date.

The Colonial House was built in 1930 Colonial Revival-style brick building, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, features a library, a swimming pool, gardens, wood-paneled elevators, security and gated parking.
Roy Moseley wrote, in his biography "Bette Davis," Moseley wrote that Ms. Davis enjoyed the irony… of overlook[ing] La Ronda apartment house, where she and her mother first stayed when they arrived from New York with no money, no prospects, and plenty of dreams
Bette Davis won Academy Awards for "Dangerous" (1935) and "Jezebel" (1938), although she is perhaps better known today for her work in "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" (1962) and "Hush . . . Hush, Sweet Charlotte" (1964).
Ms. Davis died in 1989 at age 81.
Rory Barish of Keller Williams Realty, Beverly Hills, has the listing.
