West Hollywood, California (Monday, August 17, 2009) - Put on by Love Honor Cherish, the activist group seeking to regain marriage rights for homosexuals in California on the 2010 ballot, Something Old, Something New will sell both new and old furniture, clothing, antiques, collectibles, electronics, books, art, media, and household items in West Hollywood Park on September 27. In addition to items for sale, there will be some live auction items throughout the day.
All proceeds will go to fund signature-gathering efforts underway to place a repeal Prop 8 measure on next year’s election ballot.
Businesses are encouraged to clean out inventories by donating stock to the event in exchange for a tax write-off.
As reported here last week, EQCA and other major gay advocacy groups have decided that awaiting 2012 while cultivating voters makes best strategic sense from their POV.
Rather than wait, Love Honor Cherish plans to harness the enormous energy unleashed by the passage of the measure less than nine months ago.

“Most people understand that Prop 8 is deeply harmful to our community,” John Henning, Executive Director of Love Honor Cherish said.
“The community is yearning for leadership and a plan to repeal [Prop 8].”
Love Honor Cherish says that they see a way to victory over the next 15 months by enlisting 12,500 volunteers and raise $31.3 million to repeal Prop 8, which passed last November with 52 percent of the vote.
The losing effort in 2008 spent over $44 million.
