West Hollywood, California (Monday, March 16, 2009) - Positive change has come to the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (LAGLCC) this year, by way of a new president Randy Malmud, and new business leaders are enthusiastically asked to join at newly discounted rates to come be an integral part in helping move the LGBT business community forward to higher levels of success. Along with four new committees, including a Community Outreach Committee, Women’s Council Committee, Young Professionals Committee and a Marketing and Communications Committee, the LAGLCC is proud to announce several new board members, as well as strategic initiatives to support the organization’s mission, to promote business networking among members and within the community at large.
The network fosters a sharing of information, ideas, contacts, education, products and services, and so strengthens and expands its businesses, members’ careers and the community.
In a city characterized by congested freeways and increasing disconnect, LAGLCC members are committed to supporting one another and building trusting relationships. With evening mixers, networking breakfasts, educational workshops, quarterly dinners, joint activities with other organizations, and community involvement, the LAGLCC strives to connect members of the community to strengthen LGBT spending and increase purchasing power of business owners.
“Now is the time to create LGBT history by getting involved in a revolution that will change the face of the first real social and economic crisis of the new millennium,” said Malmud. “We ask for a call-to-action directed at the risk takers, the shakers, the movers and the creators of being who you are, LGBT small business owners. It’s time to unleash the gay spending power inside of our community.”
Members of the LAGLCC live and work throughout the greater Los Angeles area, including the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, West Hollywood, the Westside and Santa Monica, Glendale, Pasadena, Silverlake, Downtown L.A., and many other neighborhoods.
It also maintains close working relationships with sister organizations in Long Beach and other nearby communities, Out & Equal, LA Gay & Lesbain Lawyers Association, as well as with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) in Washington, D.C.
