West Hollywood, California (Thursday, July 17, 2008) - Visionary by Magda Rod, West Hollywood’s newest ecological atelier boutique, threw an environmentally-correct trunk show on June 21 for Battalion, an elegant clothing line done in crisp bamboo and cotton smacking of Parisian chic. Battalion’s crisp tailoring is exemplified by a snappy white trench coat, a sharp alternative to the simple scarf or shawl. Photographer and style extraordinaire, Madga Rod thought this summer coat is the season’s must-have.
As holistic as it is well-edited, Visionary thinks of everything for the environmental lifestyle based on fashion as consciousness.
Ms. Rod’s insight is that, organic or not, the successful product has to be as fashionable as it is practical. Thus, she took a clothing concept and turned it into a lifestyle allegory that anyone can use.
Who would have known that a pair of Modish space-age lamps are actually mini sconces made from cocoons?
Due to her having lived in fashion capitals of Paris and New York, Ms. Rod kicked out the hippie granola stereotype of the ecological lifestyle then infuses it with a shot of French high concept and New York rock and roll edginess.

By opening Visionary Boutique, Ms. Rod wanted to prove her point that a person doesn’t have to quit being fashion-forward nor sacrifice great style in order to be “green.”
In fact, by utilizing renewable but comfortable resources, such as bamboo, you can still be hip while environmentally sustaining the planet.
Ms. Rod is living proof, in that she practices what she preaches. You wouldn’t know it, but her edgy, rock n’ roll look is organic.
The Battalion’s bamboo jersey Vanessa Vest with a ruffled collar lends a European avant-garde drama to the simple Summertime staple of tank top and jeans.
The Vanessa Vest is the number one seller for both Visionary and Battalion, in black, white, blue, nude, and light gray.

Another “hot” item is Battalion’s two- pieces- in- one, bamboo jersey Ripple Jersey Knit Dress, a bias-sewn strapless tube dress that can be pulled down into a long, comfy skirt. Wrinkle-free, it’s a great get-away piece you can roll up then toss into your carry-on bag.
It is not just the soft, draping touch that makes it travel and lifestyle worthy. It is the science. Unlike most polyester-cotton blend, bamboo jersey doesn’t “pill.” You won’t get those embarrassing little nibs of faltering yarn sticking to you.
If you need ecological guidance and style advice, Ms. Rod is there to help. By taking recycled and salvaged jewelry with history, she can rock your wardrobe by turning a choker into a hip pocket chain for your jeans.
Since each piece is recycled, each one comes with its own sense of history and can never be duplicated, making it unique, one of a kind jewelry while being kind to the earth.
Ms. Rod and her Visionary Boutique are easily found tucked away inside a cozy collection of cottages at 8568 ½ Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, California.
