West Hollywood - The West Hollywood man struck by a hit and run driver last Thursday night passed away from his injuries on Tuesday. The man was identified as Yisroel (Izzy) Woontelier, age 23. Sheriff’s detectives located a security video of the incident at a nearby apartment building and are asking for the public’s help in locating the perpetrator of the crime.
Mr. Woontelier was holding his car door open for his exiting girlfriend when he was struck by a hit and run driver in a pick up truck late Thursday night around 11:45 pm.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Fountain Ave. and Kings Road.
He lay in a coma for several days before succumbing to his injuries at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
Investigators found that a video camera at a nearby apartment building had captured the entire affair. The truck is described as dark colored Ford pickup made between 1999-2004.
The truck has a broken right front headlight, a broken antenna and right front end damage.
