After I made a quick stop at Costco for an icy-cold chocolate vanilla swirl, I noticed a small plume of smoke rise ominously in the mountains above Santa Barbara.

Within hours a cat adoption agency, ASAP, transformed itself into an emergency first-responder and would be saving hundreds of cats from the ravages of the Jesusita Fire.
