Pictorial essay by Gilbert Weingourt, West Hollywood, California
West Hollywood sits smack dab in the center of one of the very few places on earth with a “Mediterranean climate.”
In fact, only three (3) percent of the world qualifies as such.
And you thought we were special because of our creativity.
Even our height along the Hollywood Hills – most of our city ranges from 250 to 500 feet above sea level against the hills, regulates our temperatures.
So, in our gardens we find sterling examples of every type of flower; anything that grows anywhere in the world is likely to flourish here, too.
Gilbert is a onetime photojournalist now retired and interested in communicating West Hollywood’s ideals through photography.
He is a West Hollywood photographer/advocate who has a web site with his photography at exposedinblackandwhite.com
