We are pleased to announce that the City of West Hollywood and the UCLA Triathlon Team have officially joined efforts to provide young athletes high-quality training and education in preparation for a triathlon event!
During open registration at West Hollywood Park Pool, our UCLA triathlon team of coaches will offer free trial workouts each Monday and Wednesday, June 16, 18, 23 and 25 starting at 4:30 pm.
The 2014 West Hollywood Youth Triathlon Program officially starts June 30th and will run Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 -7:00 p.m. through Aug 20th. Training will take place on-site at the West Hollywood Pool and Park. Cost is $150 per 8 week session.
Participation in the West Hollywood Triathlon Team program grants young athletes member-ship in the newly formed Pacific Triathlon League. We are currently establishing partnerships with 2-3 smaller area cities who are also interested in the PacTri League. Once established, PacTri League athletes will have the opportunity to:
* Participate in a UCLA athlete-mentor program
* Discounts to local triathlon events as a PacTri athlete
* Option to participate in PacTri bike rides
* Option to participate in PacTri ocean swims
* Discounts at local bike and tri stores
* Discounts on private coaching sessions
* Nutrition consultation
* Individualized training plans
* Bike workshops
* College connections for triathlon programs
* Contract sport options for high school athletics

About our coaching staff:
Head Coach – Brady O’Bryan
UCLA Triathlon Head Coach Brady O’Bryan is a certified USAT Level 1 coach, certified personal trainer, 2012 UCLA club sports Coach of the Year, and USAT Amateur All-American. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics. Brady has coached over 150 college triathletes and has led UCLA to National titles in 2011-2013.
His leadership skills, knowledge of the sport and individualized training plans provide the strategy and tactics for a successful program that produces accomplished triathletes. Aside from triathlon training, one of Brady’s priorities for the West Hollywood program is the implementation of an athlete-mentor program.
Training Coach – Bill “Ajax” Peris
Ajax is a US Air Force Veteran, Commander of UCLA Air Force ROTC, a West Hollywood resident, and current Ph.D candidate at UCLA. He is a UCLA triathlon team member, serves on a multitude of community service projects, and is a highly accomplished triathlete in the sprint, Olympic, 70.3 and 140.6 events. Ajax brings personality, leadership and organizational skills to the program to ensure quality workouts, strong communication with families, and motivational tactics for athletes.
Assistant Training Coach – Dylan Bridget-Olivia
Dylan is the UCLA Triathlon Team Captain; he is a sales and bike mechanic at Bike Improve, an accomplished triathlete at the National level, and holds a UCLA B.A. in Geography/ Environmental Studies. Dylan brings to the program highly skilled technical bike training, safety clinics, and bike mechanic expertise.
Assistant Training Coach – Ella Eser
Ella is UCLA Triathlon Team Vice President, UCLA triathlon team member since 2010, accomplished triathlete at the National level, swim instructor and coach, and holds a UCLA B.S. in Life Sciences. Ella brings strong communication and management skills to the program. Her area of expertise will focus on triathlon-specific swim training.
Assistant Training Coach – Derek Rudack
Accomplished triathlete and youth athletics coach, Derek has an advanced military background and training with the Airborne Corps. Derek has achieved numerous military medals and currently serves as Team Leader Instructor for civil affairs. His focus for the program emphasizes physical fitness through strength and endurance training.
Pacific Triathlon League Director – Susan Kolko
Susan, created the Pacific Triathlon (PacTri) League in an effort to grow the sport of triathlon through community-based programs. While West Hollywood serves as the model She brings a combination of athletic experience, sports/ business management, community service, and life skills as a parent to create the 2014 West Hollywood Triathlon program in West Hollywood.
