TURN OFF “ATLANTA HOUSEWIVES!”
SMASH AGE APARTHEID IN THE HOMO COMMUNITY, INSTEAD (& IN THE HETERO COMMUNITY AS WELL).
The Gay Elder Circle of Los Angeles presents A DAY APART THE CARE & FEEDING OF THE SOUL
A call primarily to old gay men (55+) but warmly welcoming to adults and youth as well. Bring along a few friends.
Who Are You?
We’re a group of old gay men (more or less 55+), many of whom have been engaged in some way or another in the Los Angeles gay community over the decades and who are already successfully functioning as gay elders.
However, experience is not a requirement for attending A Day Apart, only attraction and curiosity and a need for real gay brotherhood and a desire to be in a gay setting that is not superficial and fabulous all the time.
We believe gay elders claim that role by their actions. It is not bestowed. We encourage all people of any age to have their lips and feet move in the same direction.
There will be no young men in wet underwear.
During the past seven years we have noticed that adults and youth are attracted to our circles. They are always warmly welcomed. They call themselves Elders-in-Waiting.
One young gay man recently said, “I love to listen to how you elders speak.”
As Roshi Joan Halifax has so wisely observed, these adults and youth see elders “as beloved pathfinders, beckoning us to enter the province of old age in anticipation of growing strength and usefulness to society.”
Join us on April 5th. Bring some friends.
The Gay Elder Circle of Los Angeles… continuing to build a healthy gay community that is politically active, creatively alive and spiritually awake.
